French Camp
French is the second most widely learned language after English and the sixth most widely spoken language in the world and is often considered the language of culture. Whether you’re just starting out or you have several years of French speaking experience, the full immersion environment on Immersion Island will encourage you to interact with one another in real-world scenarios.
On L'île D'immersion, campers enjoy all the fun a summer camp has to offer while speaking French. We teach our camps (day, overnight and hybrid) entirely in French because it's how we learn a new language the best. This makes learning faster as it places campers in real-life situations and they spend the day living as if they actually were in enjoying the sun in the Caribbean, enjoying Cirque de Soleil in Montreal or heading out on Safari in Senegal. (A little fun, some adventure and all in French.) During your stay on L'île D'immersion, we ask all campers to sign our Camper Contract agreeing they will try their best to speak French and participate in a positive manner!
Each day begins with a theme based on different French speaking countries such as: Belgium, The Ivory Coast, Madagascar or Canada. Presentations, activities, craft, conversation, games songs and meals will be in French and revolve around the culture of each day’s theme. From morning until lights out, you’ll be fully immersed in French.
Daily activities include:
Arts and crafts with hands-on activities taught in French;
Outdoor games taught in French;
Pool time;
Conversation activities including groups and role play;
Regional dishes at mealtime;
Camp songs and dancing;
Exploring the outdoors; and
